Teacher's tips
Teaching level: Kindergarten
Age: 05 to 08 years
If you think that verbal language is exclusive to humans, we want to warn you that this is not the case. The barks, grunts and other sounds that our doggies make, anyway, are full of meanings. Cats and birds, as well as all animals, communicate with people through body positions, noises, so we need to be aware of the behavior of pets. You've probably wondered why your dog flattens its ears, wags its tail or makes certain noises. So, animals have feelings and needs like us humans, they need love and lots of care.
Going to the Pet Shop online will be a great adventure for children and teachers will be able to explore the operations. Performing calculations, playing, will make children experience Mathematics in a playful way. They will spend the money at the Pet Shop setting priorities. That's great! Children's financial education is the teaching process that children go through to learn how to deal with the main variables involving money. Thus, they learn what this resource is, how equity is built, how the price of things is determined, how important it is to organize bills to pay everything on time and so on, in short, they assimilate the need to work to earn money honestly in order to spend, employ, and save. The little ones, then, are gaining autonomy. In addition to financial education, Awakening empathy and love for animals in children will be a highlight of this super fun game. "Compassion for animals is closely linked to goodness of character, and anyone who is cruel to animals cannot be a good man."
Living with animals makes children more sensitive and collaborative. Thinking about this context, teachers can streamline classes with images of various animals and ask children to produce poetic or narrative texts. The important thing is to play the game online and then explore the existing themes, such as respect and care for animals. The doggo's name was suggestive to lead to the Scooby-Doo cartoon. How about, teacher, going back to the past and bringing this animation to classes?! [FIM-DICA]

Suggestions of approaches for the teacher
Children, teachers, are always observing and reproducing what they see around them. From an early age, they already realize that some things depend on money, such as a toy, a dog food, a new outfit, a trip to the amusement park and even the school snack: the famous snack. Therefore, why not take advantage of these circumstances to gradually introduce financial education into the classroom?
Schedule a day to go with the students to a Pet Shop in the city. They will be able to take a community snack. It will be a very fun moment in which the children will come across the universe of exclusive animal products. Children who have a pet will be able to buy something for their pet to have the buying and selling experience.
Later, during Mathematics classes, they will be able to solve little problems involving these products and accessories, as well as toys and even medication for pets.
In Portuguese classes, the teacher should recommend that students watch movies and read books about the affection and complicity that animals have with human beings. Next, the children will be able to write an essay whose theme will be: “Animals are our friends”. Children will be able to watch movies about dogs, as they are very cool and there are a variety of them to amuse us or bring some cool teaching. We can suggest the film "Lassie", as it is a very sensitive film that emphasizes respect for dogs based on a strong bond between a dog and a child.
The Science teacher may suggest to the class a research about pets or even about those that are endangered.
More about the content
Teachers, did you know that the relationship between pet and children increases self-esteem, helps to create a sense of responsibility, fights sedentary lifestyle, in addition to other advantages for both? That's right! Living with pets stimulates sociability, collaborates with cognitive development and helps with balance, as the pet encourages the child to run around the house and move around.
You can hold an event at school where you and the children will collect food for animals that live in shelters. In Writing or Portuguese class, students can create a journal page describing this experience. In the Mathematics class, the teacher will help the children to carry out a survey of the food collected, separating them by quantity and type of product. The online game "Pet shop" will encourage children to participate in this charitable event. In it, the intention is for children to feel like people who are going to buy products characteristic of pets that will be cared for, but it would be very good to awaken in students a feeling of compassion for animals that live on the streets abandoned, sick or in shelters temporary.
Parents should also participate in this project to strengthen the partnership between school, family and community. Collective work contributes to developing affective and solidary bonds, they allow us to reflect on the values that guide our lives and lead us to actions in which efforts, responsibilities and achievements are shared.
